King's Knife (Gotland)
Our King's Knife has been beautifully crafted using the highest-quality materials. The blade has been hand-forged using carbon steel to achieve the iconic shape associated with the Gotland finds from the Viking Age.
The handle has been hand-crafted from bone with a brass plate. The end of the handle features a brass cap and ring, which can be used to attach leather lace. The whole knife has been finished with our signature beeswax and linseed oil blend, which helps protect, aids in grip and brings out the natural colouring. The leather sheath has been hand-sewn and finished masterfully with brass accents and a handy belt loop, in keeping with the Gotland finds.
These are an attempt to recreate what likely would have been used in the Viking Age and are based on the Gotland finds, which date back to the 9th/10th century.

WHAT IS A 'GOTLAND'?
Gotland is Sweden's largest island, and is home to some of the most important (and incredible) finds we have from the Viking Age.
The Spillings Horde is the world's largest Viking Age silver horde and contained over 14,000 coins, many from the Islamic world. There was also 20 kg of Bronze items found, a long with nails, glass beads, pottery and many more items.
The Mastermyr chest is another notable find, which is the largest tool find from the Viking Age.
The island is littered with Viking Age (and pre Viking Age) history and finds, including a number of knives which our Jarl's Knife is based on.
KNIFE CARE
Knifes are supplied with a small tin of our signature linseed oil and beeswax blend, as well as being treated before being shipped.
High Carbon steel is not 100% water resistant, and requires the regular application of oil (or our wax blend) to keep the knife looking its best.
