Viking Throwing Axe

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Viking Throwing Axe

Our Viking Throwing Axe has been beautifully crafted using the highest-quality materials. The head has been forged using carbon steel to achieve the "Petersen Type M" shape associated with the Viking Age. The shaft has been hand-crafted from Rosewood and finished with our signature beeswax and linseed oil blend, which helps protect, aids in grip, and brings out the wood's natural grain. Each axe is supplied with a hand-sewn leather sheath that connects with push buttons for quick and easy removal.

This throwing axe takes inspiration from the ironic and feared Dane Axe, featuring the same Petersen Type M axe head shape. This well-balanced axe has been reinforced to be the perfect addition to any throwing arsenal.

WHAT IS A THROWING AXE?

Throwing axes have a rich history as weapons spanning from antiquity through the medieval ages.

Often wielded by foot soldiers and occasionally by mounted cavalry, these axes were hurled in an overhand motion, spinning gracefully through the air until the blade struck its target. Mastering this technique required considerable skill and practice.

In modern times, axe throwing has evolved into a highly popular sport, originating in Canada. This ancient practice has found new life as enthusiasts from all walks of life embrace the challenge and excitement of hitting the mark with precision and finesse.

CARING FOR YOUR AXE

Our axes come with a small tin of our special linseed oil and beeswax blend, ensuring they're treated before they even reach you.

Although high carbon steel offers exceptional durability, it's not completely water-resistant. To maintain your axe's pristine condition, it's essential to regularly apply oil or our wax blend. This simple care routine ensures your axe remains in top-notch shape, keeping it looking its best for years to come.

Please Note: Not all axes are made for chopping wood. Wood chopping axes have a specially designed widened axe blade to withstand the forces applied with splitting wood. Using an axe in any manner other than that it has been designed for can result in damage.
